26 Berkley scholars receive financial support

It was a beautiful evening Monday, June 17th as Berkley Scholarship Fund director Jerry Bernard took to the podium at the Berkley Middle School 8th grade graduation to introduce and congratulate the 2024 Berkley Scholarship Fund scholarship recipients. Despite busy graduation-season schedules, a majority of our recipients were able to make time to attend and be acknowledged for their achievements.

The BSF is excited to share that we’ve awarded $74,500 in scholarships to 26 Berkley scholars to further their education in 2024. The 50 total applications received this year were reviewed by officers and members of the board of directors along with supporting volunteers, and winners were selected based upon their academic achievement, financial need, and other eligibility requirements.

BSF scholarships fall into two overarching categories: The Winifred Hathaway Memorial Scholarship for students entering the medical field, and general scholarships for students pursuing all other fields. Many of our general scholarships are named in honor of some of our biggest supporters over the last 52 years. Scholarships vary in award amounts based on achievement and need, and are available to Berkley residents who have been accepted to or are enrolled as part-time or full-time students in institutions of higher education.

We offer these scholarships to support accomplished Berkley students in financial need. We’re able to provide this important financial support thanks to generous donations from individuals and businesses through our annual fundraising letter and golf tournament. If you missed out on this year’s scholarship competition, you’ll be able to download the 2025 scholarship application from our Apply page beginning January 31, 2025. The application deadline is April 25, 2025 and we’ll announce awards by July 2025.
